The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train was a huge hit here in Weyburn Monday night.

Lieutenant, Mike Mailman with the Weyburn Salvation Army says that the competition between the City of Weyburn and the Weyburn Credit Union for collecting food for the Salvation Army came to a very successful end as well Monday night.

"It's always an amazing year with the Holiday Train, but the Credit Union and the City of Weyburn stepped up to compete for our benefit for the second straight year. The City of Weyburn came out ahead in cash donations but they were really close in food donations."

Lieutenant, Mailman says that the Credit Union brought in 670 pounds of food and the City of Weyburn brought in 792 pounds of food.

The Credit Union then brought in $4,000 in cash and the City of Weyburn was able to bring in $10,330.

Mailman says that brings the two totals together to 15,792 pounds of food if you count one dollar equaling one pound of food.

He said that CP Rail also donated $2,000.

The Weyburn Salvation Army would like to send out a big thank you to everyone who donated.
