The preliminary inquiry for Chris Fahlman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Weyburn's Tanya Myers, continued Tuesday in Weyburn provincial court.

Fahlman’s preliminary inquiry continues

Crown prosecutors Andrew Campbell and David Belanger, along with defence lawyer Aleida Oberholzer, are presenting evidence gathered during the investigation into the Sept. 12, 2025, shooting before the Honourable Judge Mitch Miller.

A publication ban under Section 539 of the Criminal Code restricts publication of evidence taken during the preliminary inquiry. The ban is intended to protect the fairness of any subsequent trial.

The hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for Fahlman to stand trial. If he is ordered to stand trial, the case will proceed to the Court of King's Bench, where all murder trials are heard.

Proceedings began Monday and continued Tuesday, with Fahlman appearing in person. The inquiry is scheduled to resume Friday, Oct. 23, with a decision expected next Wednesday, Oct. 28.
