While the past few days have seen high temperatures and even heat warnings, today is expected to cool down. Though the cool weather won't last too long, as tomorrow Weyburn can expect to see those temperatures return to the mid-to-high 20's.

"Well it is summer and the temperatures have finally arrived,"  said Terri Lang with Environment Canada. "A lot of people have been waiting for the heat."

She says we can attribute the high humidity to the growing crops that surround the Weyburn area. While the warmer temperatures are being blown in from the South, a large part of the heat comes from the muggy air due to humidity. Lang says not many people know, but a lot of this humidity comes from crops.

The week will be following the pattern of warm weather, with temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to high 30s. These high temperatures, when paired with the humidity, could result in heat warnings being issued.

"When we do issue heat warnings, that's when the effect of the heat kicks in on people," Lang warned.

In the event of a heat warning, it is advised to remain inside, or in an area with air conditions. Ultimately, heat warnings are in place to let people know that the temperature outside could pose a risk on ones health.
