There has been no word as of Monday morning as to the house fire Saturday morning on South Hill that claimed the life of an 84-year-old woman.

The Weyburn Fire Department and Weyburn Police Service received the call about the fire on the 400-block of 4th Avenue Southeast around 4:45 a.m. Saturday. Crews attacked the fire, and it was extinguished. Investigators from the Saskatchewan Fire Commissioner's Office were in Weyburn Saturday morning to investigate the cause of the blaze.

While battling the blaze, the crews found the victim in the home. One other occupant, said to be the victim’s daughter, was able to make it out, and survived the fire.
