The Weyburn Independent Riders motorcycle club are planning two charity events this weekend.

The club will be hosting their annual Toy Parade on Saturday, August 20 to benefit the Weyburn Salvation Army Christmas fund.

"We ask that anyone who wants to come for a motorcycle ride to bring an unwrapped toy," said Laurie Norman, Weyburn Independent Rider.

The riders will be leaving from the Weyburn Junior High School parking lot at 1 p.m. From there, they will parade throughout the city to end up at River Park, where the donation of toys will be made.

On Sunday, August 21, the club will compete against riders from Estevan to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House charity.

Weyburn riders will meet at McDonalds Restaurant at 1 p.m. and travel to Stoughton where they will meet up with riders from Estevan to see which city was able to bring out the most riders. Participants must pay a fee to attend the event.

Norman said that attendance by Estevan riders has topped Weyburn the last number of years, but he is hoping to have more local participants this year.

The group will enjoy a roast beef meal and other fundraising events at the Crossroads Inn in Stoughton.

Norman said that both events are open to all motorcycle riders.
