A photograph circulating on social media has people wondering the origin of some mysterious designs southwest of Weyburn.

Near Tatagwa Lake, they appear to be chemistry diagrams, set out in an order intended to convey a message of some sorts. With Halloween right around the corner, Discover Weyburn set out to find the truth. The internet searches came up blank, with only others questioning the mysterious design, which is also visible on Google Earth. Sources we phoned could say little more as well. Speculation ran rampant, with suggestions of aliens, Bigfoot, or other creepy origins.

Then, finally, we found an answer from the City of Weyburn's Director of Engineering, Sean Abram. The truth isn't as spooky as you would think.

The mysterious designs are part of a Ducks Unlimited waterfowl habitat. The design is called duck condos, as they have islands and canals for the birds to occupy. A search on Google Earth shows similar patterns all across the country in waterfowl parks.
