Some good news for farmers wanting to resume harvest, and for anyone looking to enjoy some summer-like weather for the weekend. The cool and rainy weather is on its wait out, for now.

Terri Lang, warning preparedness meteorologist for Environment and Climate Change Canada, said the wet weather is done for a while.

"We're looking at a pretty warm and dry weekend and into early next week. It looks like the next chance of any precipitation will be later on in the week, maybe Wednesday into Thursday."

Lang credited the rainy week to a large open trough over western Canada, sending low-pressure systems through southern Saskatchewan after they developed in Montana.

"Often Saskatchewan does kind of get clipped by these things. We had a series of three weather systems that went through, with this last one probably being the strongest one, and giving the most amount of rain," Lang said.

Weyburn received 44.8 millimetres of rain since Monday.

The pattern is changing and bringing an upper ridge to the area, according to Lang, which means drier and warmer air. Daily highs are expected to be in the mid-20s for the next few days. The five-day forecast can be found HERE.

Looking further ahead, Lang said they're calling for warmer-than-average temperatures during fall, though it's too early to tell how much precipitation could be in store.

For next little bit, however, it's good news for producers and anyone trying to enjoy the outdoors during the second-last weekend of summer.
