A committee that aims to keep the highways safe for travel and let the government know when roads are in need of work met recently in Warman.

Chairman of the Southeast Transportation Committee Dennis Moore said the purpose of the meeting was to develop a memorandum of understanding regarding the working relationship between the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highway and Infrastructure and the Area Transportation Planning Committees.

"Because we are the eyes and ears of the roads and roadways in the province our job is to report what needs to be done in areas that have changed in traffic over the past couple years, and that requires a better-built road, a more maintained road," shared Moore.

He said they also meet with residents of the southeast to discuss what they can do with the budget they have based on the biggest need.
