The rising loonie is causing headaches for some cattle producers.

Sandy Russell is a Beef Economist with Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food. She says cattle prices are down about 10 to 15 cents compared to this week last year.

She adds says they are seing the prices will continue to slip with the rise of the dollar.

Russell adds cow-calf producers trying to sell feeder cattle are most affected by the loonie being on par with the American dollar.
