The South District Saskatchewan RCMP are sending out an important safety reminder after investigating multiple reports of attempted child abductions.

One such investigation stemmed from two separate reports of 10-year-old girls being approached by a man in Carlyle last week and offering them a ride. RCMP have since determined those incidents did not take place, however.

There were also reports of attempted abductions in two first nation communities. RCMP are investigating attempted abductions in Piapot and Kahkewistahaw First Nations which may have occurred last month.

Investigators do not believe any of the incidents are related in any way, but they want to let the public know of these incidents and remind parents and guardians the importance of telling children about following safety principles. These include reminding children to be aware and report suspicious people and vehicles around schoolyards to their teachers or trusted adults, try to walk on sidewalks along busy streets as opposed to alleys, and not approaching strangers.
