It wasn't the start Saskatchewan was looking for as they dropped their first draw 9-3 against Manitoba in the Tim Horton's Brier.

The first four ends were a back and forth affair, with Saskatchewan, represented by Team Knapp and featuring Weyburn boy Brennen Jones as third, laying 1 in the first and fourth ends while Manitoba scored one in tbe second and stole one in the third. Team Manitoba features another familiar face to Saskatchewanians as it is skipped by Matt Dunstone, a former Sask representative.

After a blank in the fifth end, Manitoba blew the game wide open, laying 4 in the sixth. Although Saskatchewan tried to come back in the seventh, Dunstone scored a further three in the eighth and Dunstone and Knapp shook hands after that.

Jones came away from Draw 1 with a 83% accuracy rating, above the team average of 77%.

Next action for Team Saskatchewan will be Sunday morning when they take to the ice against Newfoundland and Labrador. That game starts at 8:00 a.m.
