Being physically active is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and the Weyburn Leisure Centre has several options to help you out.

"So we opened the indoor pool in September," Tina Clay, Aquatics Manager for the City of Weyburn said. "We do allow only 40 patrons by time slot. There are a limited number of toys that are brought out and patrons are encouraged to bring their own. We ask that everybody ensures that there is proper distancing while lining up for the climbing wall and water slide. And the sauna is closed. Our hot tub max capacity is three people or five people from the same household."

Concession items will not be available at this time. Participants may bring in food and beverages with the exception of alcohol. Food and beverages are not permitted on the deck.

"As per the Government of Saskatchewan masks are mandatory at all indoor public facilities but we just ask that you take them off in the changeroom right before you come on deck," explained Clay. "Children 12 and under do need to have an adult at the facility with them. An adult being 18 plus to encourage physical distancing. Five and under needs to have an adult in the water within arms reach at all times. Two-meter physical distancing is required between the staff and the public. With the exception being those from the same household and extended family."

The Weyburn Leisure Centre has had to pivot this year to be able to keep the facility open and as such has some requests from the public when they visit.

"Our changing rooms are open but we do just ask that you arrive at the facility in your swim clothes in order to avoid congestion in the change rooms," Clay told. "And all patrons need to shower before coming into the pool. And we just ask that everybody arrives within the first 15 minutes of the designated time slot as the pool doors will be locked after 15 minutes. But if you are going to be late we just ask that you call the front desk and somebody will be prepared to let you in. And the lobby isn't open as it has been in the past for people to sit and watch. So we do ask that if you are coming to the pool but not swimming you will be required to come on deck and there is a two-dollar non-swimmer fee. When you are on deck as a non-swimmer you are required to wear a mask."

The local swimming pool had a slow start to their indoor season but are now seeing more people taking advantage of their public facilities.

"Our public swims have been filling up and our lanes have as well so we have seen an increase in the last month or so," added Clay. "And you do have to book online. We will only accept drop-ins if there is space available but those who register online first will get to go first. And you can see online how many people are registered for each session so sometimes people do just come because they see openings but it does fill up."
