The four schools in Weyburn – Assiniboia Park Elementary School, Legacy Park Elementary School, St. Michael’s School and Weyburn Comprehensive School – all received a visit from the Royal Canadian Legion Friday. The purpose, the presentation of a copy of Canada Remembers, a set of DVDs produced by Thomega Productions. The Legion purchased them for each school.

“It’s a commemorative school project, and there’s a book in here as well, and it’s questions and answers for the school kids,” explained Brian Glass with the Weyburn Legion.

The documentary series shares the stories of Canadian War veterans, from Worl War 2 up to the war in Afghanistan. It was recorded at the Canada Remembers Air Show, which is held in Saskatoon.

The first visit to drop off the DVD was at Assiniboia Park Elementary, where Glass, along with Dale Hoff, were met by principal Dan Manning, who received the copy on behalf of the school.

“We’re just very appreciative to the Legion for this gift, so we can teach our students about Remembrance Day, and continue to do that,” Manning said. “We’re very appreciative.”

A copy of the set of DVDs will also be available at the Legion, where the public will be able to borrow them.
