Children gathered around last evening at the Weyburn Public Library as Weyburn's own Jennifer LaCharite, gave a book reading of her book, Tito's Soft World.

LaCharite said it was great to see a friend from high school coming from out of town to attend.

"Her daughters have been reading my book, and they like it, and my friends from here in town came and brought their kids, and my mom, of course, is here," she noted.

sChildren's author and freelance writer based in Costa Rica, Jennifer LaCharite, signed a copy of her book for her parents. She is pictured here with her mother, Carol.

While the reading didn't take long, as it is a children's book, those there did have plenty of questions. They wanted to know the funniest or weirdest things Tito, the miniature schnauzer, gets into, which is encapsulated in the book, but they needed more details.

For example, Tito, who lives with LaCharite in Costa Rica, has been known to steal chicken bones out of the garbage and try to hide them throughout the house.

Children in attendance said they were happy to hear a local author share her story in their library, with the best part being that this dog is a real life character, who they hope will have more adventures in print.

"It was really nice. I wouldn't think of doing it anywhere else," said LaCharite. "I would only ever do it here in my hometown in my hometown library. Libraries are really important."

While the book is available on Amazon in print and for Kindle, LaCharite has also donated a copy of Tito's Soft World to the library for people to be able to read or borrow.

"I'm really glad that I got a chance to do this. You know, first book, and you just want to do the things. you want to do the 'authory' things. And now I can say I've done them. I've signed books, I've read the book," she added with a smile.
