The condition of the highways in southeast Saskatchewan will be in a steady state of flux over the next few days.

When the snowfall began yesterday, the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure was prompted to issue Travel Not Recommended advisories for large swaths of the province. This was due to blowing snow, as well as icy and slippery conditions, and reduced visibility. The conditions got to the point where the Trans-Canada was closed for periods around Regina.

As for Weyburn, travel was not recommended on any of the area highways. After crews from the Weyburn area were able to get out to work on the roads in the past few hours, some of the conditions have been improving.

The travel not recommended status has been lifted on all highways around Weyburn, with the exception of Highway 13 east of Weyburn to Stoughton.

These conditions could change again quickly. Stay up to date with the latest by checking our Road Report page.
