The 12th annual Brimacombe Classic will be under way this Saturday in Weyburn.

The event takes over Brimacombe Drive for the day with a four on four street hockey tournament.

All of the proceeds will be going to the Fellinger family. Their 16 year old boy Wyatt went from an active kid who participated in mixed martial arts and sports to needing a cane and a scooter to get around. After many doctor visits and different tests, all they know is that he has a neurological disorder that is shutting off his body from the waist down. This leaves the family with many new expenses that are adding up quickly. Whether it be for travelling to appointments, tests, or many other expenses that are needed for his day-to-day life.

"Wyatt's future is unclear and we don't know how this is going to continue to affect him in everyday life," said Lindsay Fellinger, mother of Wyatt. "I can tell you that he is an absolutely amazing, sweet and compassionate child and even when I'm having a bad day and stressing about it he's the one that tells me that everything will be OK. He's also very determined and he is going to do whatever he wants, but he's going to just figure out a way to do it for himself."

The Brimacombe Classic organizers said that after hearing this heartbreaking story, it was an easy decision on where this year's proceeds were going. Although Wyatt was reluctant on the idea, and suggested there were other more important causes they could help. The organizers disagreed strongly.

"The best part about it is how diverse it is," said Preston Shupe, one of the organizers. "There's hockey players, baseball players, teachers, oil field workers, anyone's there and it's just a good time to get together and have a few laughs while playing street hockey."

The tournament will start at 11am and run through the day with an after party to follow at ten p.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion.
