The undefeated Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles and the undefeated Moose Jaw Central Cyclones met on the Weyburn Minor Football field on a windy rainy night under the lights on Friday.

"The annual WCS Eagles Friday Night Lights game was the best game of the season so far for the south rural league," shared WCS Athletic Director Jody Kerr.

"With a crowd that spanned from goal line to goal line and minor football players playing some pick up in the end zones. A packed house watched these two teams go toe to toe for the first two quarters with the defenses ruling the day and Weyburn taking a 1-0 lead into half time off a punt single by Conner Kerr," he noted.

He went on to share that the second half saw both teams open it up a little it more after some halftime adjustments but the Eagles could only muster a field goal and a safety from the Cyclone defense taking a 6-0 lead into the 4th quarter.

"Finally, in the 4th quarter the Eagles broke through with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Conner Kerr to Nolan Uhren to push the score to 13-0. A few drives later the Eagles strike again when Kerr breaks to the outside on a 51-yard run down the sidelines to the endzone to make the score 20-0!"

Before the end the defense would force another Cyclone safety and a 22-0 final score win for the Eagles.

"A huge day for the defense on Friday as they held the top rusher in the league from Moose Jaw to only 70 yards rushing and only 102 yards as a team," Kerr said. "As well, the Eagles defense held the potent passing game of the Cyclones to only 98 yards passing and prevented them from getting to the red zone all game."

Conner Kerr had 14 pass completions for 181 yards, Owen Istace had 14 carries for 78 yards, Nolan Uhren had four catches for 89 yards, Alex Junk had seven tackles, Chace Kradovill had six tackles and a deflection, and Brody Walter had two tackles, one deflection and the biggest hit of the night.

The Eagles' next home game is tomorrow, September 26th, when the Junior varsity team hosts Estevan and Moose Jaw Central on Darold Kot field starting at 4:00 p.m.

The Senior Eagles will host again on Saturday September 30th at 1:00 p.m. when they host the Moose Jaw A.E. Peacock Tornadoes on Darold Kot field.
