The collision on Highway 13 east of Weyburn Monday afternoon was a fatal one, with one person pronounced dead at the scene, and three others taken to hospital.  

In a release issued Tuesday afternoon, the RCMP stated an SUV was stopped on Highway 13 to make a left turn off the highway when a pickup truck struck them from behind. The SUV was pushed into oncoming traffic but didn’t collide with any other vehicles. 

Officers from the Weyburn and Fillmore RCMP detachments responded to the scene immediately, along with the Traffic Services Unit.  

The SUV had two occupants in it – the driver and one passenger. The passenger, a 54-year-old man, passed away at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with injuries that were described as serious but non-threatening.

The RCMP had a collision analyst out at the scene of the accident, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service also attended. The investigation into the collision is still underway.
