The Weyburn Artistic Swimming Club held their annual Cinema Under the Stars on Saturday night at the Weyburn Exhibition Grounds.

The drive-in movie event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the club, who join up with the Estevan artistic swimmers for the Sask Games.

"So we usually get together once a week and do around a two-and-a-half-hour practice, in Weyburn" shared Ava, a member of the Estevan Artistic Swimming Club.

She said this will help to pay for some of their suits, bags, and clothing, as well as general club fees like pool rentals.

When asked why they enjoy the sport, Ava Allen said she has always liked its creativity.

"It's kind of a bunch of sports put together, so it's basically me doing one sport, but actually three at the same time."

"Lots of people don't know about it, and it's actually quite fun to show them what it is and see how impressed they are," she added. "Because we're able to lift girls right out of the water."

Sierra Mantei of Estevan said all their hard work always pays off once they get to perform in front of an audience.

"I enjoy the teamwork."

In all, 74 vehicles filled with people were out to enjoy the double feature on Saturday night.
