The Board of Revision for Weyburn was appointed by City Council on Monday.

"They are just simply a first step in trying to dispute your tax assessments," explained Marcel Roy, Mayor of Weyburn.

Roy went on to say the Revision Board is the first step for homeowners who believe their tax assessments are too high. If you feel the City's assessment is too high the appeal goes to the Revision Board. If you feel the new assessment from the Revision Board is not right either, your case will be moved on to the next step, a higher level of review.

Roy added it has to be an independent board so the City is hands off from the appeals process.

Roy Hardy, City Manager explained to the public at the City Council meeting that the Board of Revision is a local group of people which has experience in assessing properties.

"This particular group, does work for a number of small, medium and large municipalities across the province, to hear an individuals discussions," added Hardy.

The motion was passed in Mondays Council meeting to appoint Gord Krismer and Associates Limited to serve as the City of Weyburn Board of Revision for 2018.
