The Weyburn Beavers would find themselves on the road for a pair of games Friday, but not against the same team, or even in the same city. The first game would be a matinee affair in Regina, against the Red Sox. After those nine innings were done, the Beavers hopped on the bus and headed to Moose Jaw to take on the Miller Express in an evening game.

The quirk of the schedule, however, did not favour the Beavers. They would end up losing both of the games in a rather decisive fashion.

In the early game, the Beavers would take a first-inning lead, as Nolan Machibroda hit his first home run of the season. From there, the Red Sox took over, scoring five in the bottom of the first inning, and three the next to jump out to an 8-1 lead. They wouldn’t look back and held on for a 15-9 victory.

After the bus trip, the Beavers unloaded their gear at Ross Wells Park in Moose Jaw. The Beavers would again find themselves down early, and couldn’t overcome the difference, falling 16-5.

The Beavers will look to bounce back Saturday as they host the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Tom Laing Park, the first of two games against the Mavericks this weekend.
