A few gloomy clouds didn't stop a crowd of more than 300 people from heading on down to River Park this afternoon for the annual Trails Day event. The City of Weyburn hosts Trails Day every year, rain or shine, in celebration of the city's parks and trails system.

Superintendent of Public Works and Parks with the City of Weyburn, Claude Morin, said they were happy with the turnout in spite of the dark skies, which never did drop any rain throughout the afternoon's festivities.

"You always wish for a brighter, sunnier day, but nonetheless it's not too bad, and everybody seems to be having fun," he said.

Local hard rock band Small City Blues, local singer/songwriter Lindsey Bell, and Magician Richy Roy took the stage and kids got to enjoy bouncy castles, balloons, and face painting. A number of vendors were there, along with a hot dog fundraiser for Communithon.

The scavenger hunt is always a part of the event, as it encourages people to explore the trails.

"Part of that is they have to actually walk around the trails in order to get their name in for the draw, so that's what it's all about, getting people familiar with the green space we have here in Weyburn," explained Morin.

With lots to do, the park was filled with children enjoying the green space, people walking on the trails, and, of course, a few just hanging out to enjoy the music.
