It is safe to say that this year's Communithon was a success. While COVID-19 restrictions were in place, making it so many performers and audience members could only take part digitally, the community still came together to show support for the Communithon.

While the initial goal for the Communithon was a sizable $82,020, the community came together to raise over double that amount.

"It feels really good. I mean our community again came out and supported the Communithon like they always had even though we had some pretty big challenges here," said Communithon Chair, Wanda Miller. "We have a pretty great community and they supported us again."

In addition to members of the community making donations, the Charles Henderson Estate donated a massive $138,000. This amount alone allowed for the Communithon to knock their goal right out of the park.

"You know that was a wonderful surprise," Miller added. "It truly is something that all of our programs, services, and community agencies will put to use in our community."

While the total could still change as donations trickle in, the Communithon ended with $206,431 donated, well over twice their targeted amount.

Each year, Communithon raises money for organizations here in the Weyburn area, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Canadian Red Cross, the Community Low Income Centre, the CNIB, Envision Counselling and Support Centre, Inclusion Weyburn, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, Weyburn Care-A-Van, the Weyburn Special Care Home Auxiliary and the Weyburn Youth Centre.
