Every year the WEYBURN SILVER SEALS host a MINI MEET for the newcomers and pups age (too young to compete in full meets) of speed swimmers.

There is always a lot of excitement and team cheering, and the more experienced swimmers always lend a hand...

Swim meets are a full day event, and there are a lot of things to remember, and to be aware of, to make the meet successful.  The mini meet, is the chance, to (for example) hear the different whistles, that all mean something different, from getting up on the blocks, to the final whistle that indicates the race has started.  Some topics include knowing what a false start is, the importance of swimming in the right lane (at the right time), and, that how you do the strokes and touch the wall are just as important as how fast you can get there.  Speed swimming has a lot of specifications that the swimmer must remember, all while swimming their top speed.
