There's just over a week left before the annual Weyburn and District United Way Communithon and we are continuing our look at the 14 member agencies that benefit from the event.

Today, we look at the Saskatchewan Abilities Council.

"At the Saskatchewan Abilities Council, we support individuals in our province living with disabilities, whether they be mental or physical disabilities," said Community Relations and Events Co-ordinator Amy Weekes. "A lot of our fundraising dollars actually go towards Camp Easter Seal in Saskatchewan, so helping children that otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to attend camp."

The Abilities Council has been a member agency for many years and Weekes notes that the majority of the funds go to sending children in the Weyburn area to camp.

"The United Way is important to our organization because it helps get the word out to people about the Saskatchewan Abilities Council and what we do," she said. "As well, the Weyburn United Way turns around and supports us and the work we do in the Weyburn area. We find ourselves lucky to be supported by the United Way; we're very thankful for them."

Communithon is set to run October 20th with the Concert Jam on October 21st
