The town of Yellow Grass is currently in the running to win a $10,000 prize for their community with the Go Out and Play Challenge being offered by Saskatchewan Blue Cross and Saskatchewan in motion.

"So this challenge offers communities the chance to win the $10,000 for a challenge that gets kids and families out to play," explained Jackie Law, the organizer of Yellow Grass's participation in the 2021 Go Out and Play Challenge. "So the community that moves the most during the challenge wins the grand prize."

Law has had a project that has been in the works since the end of last year for some important upgrades to one of the town's biggest gathering points for families.

"So the money is going to be going towards our multi-purpose sports court for the town to use, the school to use, and of course the surrounding area, as well," Law told.

Registration is now open for families or individuals. However, children under the age of 13 are required to have their parents fill out the online form for them.

"So what we need is everyone's help to help us win," expressed Law. "We're hoping we can count on all residents, friends, neighbors, and families across Saskatchewan to log their active minutes and put them towards our challenge from March first to the tenth. And right now I'm working with our local community club and putting together a list of challenges for people to complete. Then you'll have to submit pictures and be entered into a prize draw. There are lots of ways to be active right now. Just knock on your neighbor's door and go for a walk during your lunch hour. Anything where you can be active like chores, shoveling snow, or doing anything that you can possibly think of."

This will be the first time that the town of Yellow Grass is taking part in this challenge so Law was excited to enter them into it for a chance to win the $10,000 prize.

If you'd like to help them reach their goal and are interested in logging you and/or your family's physical activity from March 1, 2021, to March 10, 2021, feel free to register online here.

The winning community will be announced on March 12, 2021. The grand prize winners will receive $10,000 towards their community project, the second-place winners will win $5,000, and communities that finish in 3rd to 12th place will receive a $500 prize.
