Jeff Chessall, the owner of the local Rona store in Weyburn suggested to the head office for all of the Canadian stores that the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop should be recognized as a local Hero Organization.

"We're blessed to have a great Rona dealer and store here in Weyburn and they do a bit of a fundraising campaign for us," explained Jeff Richards, Executive Director of the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop. "When you go into Rona here in Weyburn you're going to find the Hero Campaign banner and you'll have an opportunity when you make your purchase to make a donation. Every donation that is made to the Wor-Kin Shop for the month of September will also be matched at 50 percent by Rona Canada."

Richards added that the Wor-Kin Shop works closely with the local Rona store for a number of their projects that they do within the community.

Rona's Hero campaign will be running until September 30, 2021, and donations can be made online as well as in the store at the checkout.

"So we use these funds to support the individuals that we support," Richards told. "We had received some fundraising dollars last year from Rona and we used that money to buy a very nice big new miter saw for our woodworking division because we want number one for our participants over there to be safe but also to be very good at what they do. So when the guys are cutting wood for pallets, because we supply pallets to a number of manufacturers here in Weyburn, then they have the best tools at their disposal."

Richards said that they are always looking to upgrade their equipment but stated that they won't be able to start budgeting the money until they know roughly what the fundraising total will be.

"Every dollar that folks donate to the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop always goes to resources for our participants," expressed Richards.
