Workers killed on the job in Saskatchewan will be remembered on Friday as part of a National Day of Mourning.

Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy proclaimed the city's involvement in the national day earlier this month.

The President of the Weyburn and District Labour Council, Wanda Bartlett, said the occasion will be marked Friday evening. "It's a ceremony to remember the workers that have been injured or killed on the job in the past year." Bartlett told Discover Weyburn. "The ceremony will begin at 6:30 at the TC Douglas Calvary Centre."

The names of those killed in Saskatchewan workplace incidents will be remembered at Friday's ceremony. "We have the list, through Workers Compensation Board, of the people that have been killed on the job in 2016, and there are 31 names that we will be remembering." said Bartlett.

"It'll begin in the building" added Bartlett. "We'll finish the ceremony at the memorial that's in place behind the T.C. Douglas building."

Everyone is invited to attend.
