It started with a challenge by the Weyburn Police Association for the community to support the Weyburn Public Library after a recent break-in saw over $18,000 worth of equipment stolen. Other organizations have been taking up the challenge including Toastmasters and the Weyburn Young Fellow's Wives. Today, that challenge was accepted by the Prairie Sky Coop.

"We happened to be following it a little bit online through Discover Weyburn and another couple of avenues and we noticed the Police Association had stepped up to the plate with a donation. The YF Wives answered the challenge and stepped up to the plate with a donation on their behalf," explained Jerry Ponto, Member Relations Manager, Prairie Sky Cooperative Association.

"As a community builder, Prairie Sky Cooperative has been a long time supporter of the library and we felt it our duty to step up to the plate as well and we are very pleased to donate $1,000 on behalf of the Prairie Sky Cooperative Association to the public library."

The Weyburn Public Library is grateful for the support.

"This is just wonderful, I'm kind of in shock actually," said Coralynn Sexton, Children's programmer, Weyburn Public Library.

Sexton said they will be able to use the donated funds to buy games to replace the ones stolen as well as a new virtual reality headset, which was just starting to get popular.

"Thank you so much to the Co-op for the wonderful donation," said Sexton.
