The City of Weyburn Police Service has received the annual funding provided by the provincial government.

"Weyburn police service as most police services in the province are part of the government's strategy for community wellness and ensuring that there is a police presence," explains Marlo Pritchard, Chief of Weyburn City Police Service.

The Government of Saskatchewan has provided $220,000.

"The Weyburn police services receive and has for a number of years, funding from the government for police officers. Our money just came through."

The funding helps pay for a number of officers including the CTSS program, which is the traffic unit in partnership with Estevan.

The funding also makes it possible for Weyburn to have an Investigation Unit.

Chief Pritchard said he would like to see this funding continue for stability reasons and to ensure public safety is met.
