I normally try for half's and I have done that full marathon in the equipment last Summer," said Constable Bartsch.

Bartsch said that it was a difficult run.

"I know it was a bit smokey it seemed like, and it was really hot and humid. Lots of rubbing and chafing in different areas going on."

Bartsch said that he has been employed in Weyburn for nearly two years and it is really good to see the amount of support he receives from Weyburn Police Service and Weyburn residents.

"Constable Mintenko and I have been talking about this run for a while and she was really excited to come out and try it."

The Constables ran for charity and to raise awareness for Mental Health.

"I think it's important to make that awareness out there in the media and social media. Mental Health is huge nowadays and I think a lot of people don't understand exactly what is entailed with mental health," explained Bartsch.

"Everybody deals with some kind of depression or anxiety in their life. It's important to know that people are starting to recognise that now," he added.

The Weyburn Police officers had to train well for the event.

Bartsch talked about the difference between wearing shorts and t-shirt and wearing the full uniform.

"Running in just a pair of shorts and a t-shirt is daunting enough in the heat or the distance."

"Putting on a vest that constricts your breathing and a belt around your waist that really hinders your body as well as a long pair of pants and shirts that aren't really made for sweating heavy or profusely and for long periods of time. you really have to think about your intake of food and electrolytes a little bit more so you don't pass out or end up cramping up."

Bartsch's recovery time will be short as he prepares for the next event, The Ride to Remember, which takes place later in September.
