Kathryn Rodriguez nee Johnson grew up on a farm South of Weyburn and graduated from the Weyburn Comp. Although she still has many relatives still living in the area, Kathryn moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her husband Danny Rodriguez. With hurricane Irma forecasted to hit Florida over the weekend people are preparing in any way they can.

"Danny spent the morning yesterday helping our landlord board up our place and his place," says Katherine Rodriguez. "Everybody else has shutters up and they're just preparing in any way that they can."

Hurricane Irma is currently considered a category 5 hurricane, with sustained winds of around 250 km/hour.

"We're actually going to my in-law's which is like ten minutes away from the house, more of a secluded neighbourhood the houses are super close together," says Rodriguez.

Hurrican Irma has taken the lives of over 20 people so far on its through the Carribean. All the citizens of Florida can do it wait and see what the hurricane brings.
