Yesterday work crews began a massive renovation project at the McDonald's in Weyburn.

Built in 1986, the building hasn't seen any major renovations in the over 30 years of operation, but now they are essentially rebuilding the entire store.

"CRR Construction out of Regina is our general contractor," said Amir Aminpour, Owner and Operator of the Weyburn McDonald's. "Some local companies like Qualtech, Don's Plumbing, A & B Concrete and Gary's Painting are helping them out with this project."

The plan is to work on the building while serving customers throughout the entire process.

"Our goal is to do the project in different phases to avoid any full closure," added Aminpour. "So we'll keep our drive-through open and our counter is only open for take-out orders."

This will be a full interior and exterior renovation that will see many new features. Some of them will be wheelchair accessible doors, self-ordering kiosks and a new play place with a whole new play structure.

"We appreciate the community's support during the construction and we will let with the community know of any closures or changes we may have through this project," said Aminpour.

They expect these renovations to take 10 to 12 weeks to fully complete, with the play place expected to be closed for two months.
