It goes without saying that Rider fans are the best of the bunch in the CFL, but what about the best of the best when it comes to Canadian Football League fans?

The CFL Twitter account recently put out a challenge to find out who were the biggest fans across the country. They wanted to hear stories from fans and season ticket holders from all teams. After some searching, Weyburn's own Chad Ror was selected and highlighted as one of the most passionate Rider fans.

"I replied right away, four buddies sitting together going into our 13th year as [season] ticket holders. I just said the 2013 Grey Cup is the easy answer for best memory but we've made so many on the way. We've evolved from being the drunk helmet heads of Section 26 to respectable fans with aisle seats in the new stadium," Ror said. "The guy who runs the account liked that transition we made so they actually DM'd me right away."

Ror and his friends loved gamedays and, like most Rider fans, would get dressed up and hit the road to watch the green and white. One of the staples of their crew was their mode of transportation come game day — a customized Roughrider green van.

"We just decided we should probably ride in style. There are other people and buses all over and there still is, Rider Nation is crazy. It's awesome," he said with a chuckle. "We bought a red van and painted it green. We put the green lights on top and put decals all over it and called it the 13th van. We even had a special license plate that said '13th van' and I still have it hanging at my house here. It's kind of a cherished memento."

The 13th van even helped them make new friends who were headed to Regina too.

"It was a lot of fun driving that thing up to every game. It would be a party. Everybody knew that the van was going up there on game day and we would try and pack it as full as we could, probably too full sometimes," Ror said with a laugh.

The van made two separate Grey Cup trips to Calgary and Edmonton in 2009 and 2010, but after some long hauls, they decided it was probably best to retire the vehicle.

Even without their set of wheels, Ror and his buddies brought the same passion and enthusiasm to Rider home games. That of course was capped off with the 2013 Grey Cup win on home turf.

The group has grown up, got married and some have even had kids. Although the rowdy fan days are behind them, it`s helped them forge a lifelong friendship and give them memories they'll never forget.

"We had a lot of fun back in the day, we still do now but it's a different kind of fun. I think we appreciate the game now more than we ever did," Ror said. "We had our fun, but you have to grow up at some point. We still get together on game day and I wouldn't trade that for anything."

Heading into their 13th year as season ticket holders, Ror knows life can sometimes be tricky as a Rider fan. After a wild off-season, he isn`t quite sure what to expect from the boys this year.

"I'm cautiously optimistic. It's too bad we didn't land one of the big fish quarterbacks, but when you look at what they got paid it would have hamstringed us at other positions. I think if Zach is healthy he gives us a pretty good chance," Ror noted. "I would love to have a home playoff game – I think we should save our Grey Cup squad for when we host it again in 2020. That's what it's all about, that was a lot of fun."
