A local couple will be in Toronto this weekend to be contestants on CBC's Canadian version of the popular television game show, 'Family Feud'.

Heidi Fowler and her husband Ryan will join her parents, her sister, and her brother, on 'Team Husband' as they record at least one episode. If they win, they could play in up to three episodes.

Fowler said she has always loved the game show.

"I haven't watched as much this year, but after my mom found out we were going to be on the show, she mandated viewing," Fowler chuckled. "So we are all watching and playing along, and making sure we are ready for answering all the questions."

She said they went to Regina for auditions in September.

"On the way to the audition, we had the app, so we were playing all the way up to Regina learning to play the show better and hopefully make good answers," she noted.

The format of the game includes guessing what the most popular answers might be according to surveys.

"You've gotta kind of think outside the box sometimes for what other people might say, so just try your best and hopefully you are similar to some other people what they answer. Sometimes those crazy answers are actually good ones that other people have probably thought of, too!"

"I think it's important to pay attention to what's going on in the world," Fowler said, noting the questions often take advantage of trends. "If you keep up on your social media and keep aware of what's going on, I think it helps."

She said the total three-episode winning potential is $30,000. As for when the episode(s) will air, Fowler said they will decide on Sunday morning who will play first, which may indicate the order-of-airing dates.

"If we win, and play two nights in a row or hopefully three nights in a row, then that will be really great too," she said, adding they are scheduled to film all day Sunday and even into Monday.

Fowler said the game show will also afford her some bonus time with her 'prairie' family, who, as a matter of fact, did once reside in the Weyburn area, before the move of Western Christian College in 1989.

"My mom and sister are from Manitoba, my brother is from Alberta but is actually living in Las Vegas right now, so he's coming back up for this," she explained, noting that she wasn't planning to even get to see her brother until April, and she's sure they'll only maybe watch the airing of the episode(s) togehter via Skype or FaceTime.

Team Husband plans to win Family Feud, too. In fact, it's what they were raised to do.

"They wanted a few extra things to tell their producers and I'm like, 'you could talk about mom's guest book and the scoring of all the games that's in there'," Fowler shared.

"Everyone writes what game they played and who won, so then we have a record of what games we've played. Our family's pretty competitive, so we're excited just to play the game."

Fowler said they will be staying in the same area of Toronto as she and Ryan did last year when they were there for the Pro Powerlifting Show.

"I do feel comfortable in that area of Toronto, but I think just to play a game is going to be a lot of fun," she added.

The CBC gameshow, 'Family Feud' is hosted by Gerry Dee and airs Monday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
