Weyburn Chief of Police Marlo Pritchard

With warmer weather moving into the city, Weyburn has seen a rise in mischief and vandalism cases.

Chief of the Weyburn Police Service Marlo Pritchard says that if you do have property that is damaged to call police and they will investigate the situation.

Pritchard says there are a number of consequences people could face if caught.

"They can face a number of different penalties and, of course, that will be up to the judge and depends on the individual, if he's got a previous record or if it's a first offense," says Pritchard. "It can be anything from an absolute discharge to something that's mediated to some jail time and everything in between."

He says that the warmer weather always brings an increase of mischief and vandalism and added that the Weyburn Police Service have been successful in investigating 30 or 40 per cent of mischief cases in the city.

Police continue to investigate all acts of vandalism and mischief and are holding all offenders to account for their actions.
