The Weyburn Public Library break in over Christmas saw over $18,000 worth of video games, consoles and virtual reality equipment stolen. The Weyburn Police Association (WPA) issued a challenge to the community to help replace what was stolen and donated $500.

The Weyburn Young Fellow Wives picked up the challenge and have also donated $500. The presentation of the cheque took place yesterday afternoon at the library.

"We are a service-oriented organization and we're always looking for different ways to give back to the community and once we heard this that the library had had this happen we decided to give back to them because they are such an integral part of our community," explained Angie Braat, a member of the Young Fellow Wives.

Braat said it was an awful thing that happened and the funds can help by going towards replacing what was stolen.

The challenge from the WPA is being passed on by the YF Wives.

"We're definitely encouraging anybody else that can help out to step forward and take that opportunity as well."

Video game equipment is used by the library for children and family programs on a regular basis.
