Students at the Souris School have been enjoying a new, contact-free play area courtesy of the Prairie Sky Co-op's Communities in Colour program. This program allowed the school to purchase paint to create various contact-free play areas outdoors.

The play areas include things such as hopscotch and a dancing area to help the students have fun, work their imagination, and stay safe.

"We wanted to create a playground space for the kids that would be really engaging and keep them moving," said Jodi Abel, a teacher at the Souris School. "Usually it takes about six weeks to get process, but we had it processed in about 24-hours."

Abel explained that they wanted to find a way to support their student's creativity all while maintaining a proper social distance and minimal contact.

"We didn't really know what to call it, but we've been calling it the 'imagination station'," Able added.

A majority of the paint was donated by community members in order to help stay environmentally friendly.
