The Saskatchewan Party will be voting for their new leader to replace Brad Wall on January 27. Weyburn has been an important city for the candidates to visit as part of their campaigns and hosted one of the six party leadership debates.

Sask. Party members as young as 14 will be able to vote for the new leader. Right now there are as many as 1,800 people between the ages of 14 and 25 who currently hold a Sask Party membership. Which raises questions, as people who are not old enough to vote in the provincial election could potentially vote for the new leader of the party.

The Sask. Party is not the only group in Saskatchewan who allows members not yet old enough to vote in a Federal, Provincial or Civic election. The Saskatchewan NDP, who also held a debate in Weyburn, allows members under the age of 18 to vote. Members as young as 13 will also have a chance to cast their ballot soon, as the NDP leadership vote will be happening March 3.
