Winter weights season has been delayed yet again for southern Saskatchewan.

While truckers traveling the northern half of the province can travel secondary highways with the same kind of weight that they would have on primary highways, the mild weather we've been receiving has delayed this from happening on highways in our area of the province.

This is the second time the season has been delayed this year.

Winter weight season typically runs from mid-November to March as Saskatchewan's cold weather freezes road beds and strengthens provincial highways improving efficiency for truckers and strengthening Saskatchewan exports.

The northern half of the province's winter weight season comes into effect Monday, December 3rd. Even with the weights coming into effect, the weather could change and soften roads, prompting the province to take those allowances off.

Truckers and shippers are encouraged to keep up to date with restrictions online, or by calling 1-888-335-7623.
