Early morning search warrants executed by the Weyburn Police Service Thursday resulted in three men being arrested on a number of drug charges.

The search warrants were executed at 6:30 a.m., with one at a residence in Weyburn, and two at residences in Yellow Grass. Four further warrants were executed throughout the day in Weyburn, and one more was executed in Francis.

The search warrants were part of an ongoing investigation by the Weyburn Police Service Criminal Investigation Unit into cocaine trafficking in the city.

A sizeable quantity of cocaine and possibly heroin was found. The warrant also discovered over $45,000 in cash.

The three men arrested are in their early to mid-20s. They are facing charges of trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, and one of the men is also facing a charge of resisting arrest.

The searches by the Weyburn Police Service were assisted by RCMP from the Weyburn, Carlyle and Milestone detachments, the Estevan Police Service, the National Weapons Enforcement Team from Regina, and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit which is comprised of members of the Regina Police Service and the RCMP.

The investigation is ongoing, with further charges pending.
