The Weyburn Youth Centre is kicking off a new season for drop-in at TAGS this weekend.

Executive Director Brian Hopfe said TAGS is a great place for kids Grades five to 12 to hang out and meet new friends.

"We'd just love them to come and see what we have," he said. "We have pool tables, ping pong tables, foosball, floor hockey, basically everything a kid would love to play with and have fun and there is no cost, other than if they want to purchase something from the concession stand."

He said on any given weekend night, the youth who attend often determine what activities will be enjoyed.

"It's not really an organized thing, like when the kids come then we will organize it and play some floor hockey or extreme dodgeball or something that way, but normally it's just come and go and hang out and see what's going on and play games and meet your friends, visit with us as staff, what have you," Hopfe explained.

He said it's all about making sure the kids have something to do to kick back that also keeps them out of harm's way.

"It's just a very relaxed time for the kids. It's whatever they make it. It's for them, and we have adult supervision there, all of us have criminal records done as staff, and everything else that way, it's a totally safe place," he noted. "And we would just love the kids to come and have somewhere where they can feel safe hanging out with their friends."

Located near the Tom Zandee Sports Arena, the Youth Centre is open from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the fall/winter/spring seasons, closed on long weekends and during weather colder than minus 25.
