The Therapuetic Animal Park got a boost courtesy of the Saskatchewan Bird and Small Animal Association on Friday.

Marga Cugnet, Sun Country Health Region CEO said "We're really excited actually. This is basically Don (Sealy)'s project to keep the therapeutic park going but we have a very exciting donation to announce; $3,000 that'll be going towards some of the project work to improve the park for this year."

Sun Country Health Region holds the animal park's money in trust.

Sealy, who runs the park as a volunteer, arranges all fundraising efforts and will be putting the recent donation towards renovations and improvements at the park. Cugnet said some of the work to be done this summer includes improving storage buildings, bringing in pheasants, re-shingling the gazebo, adding more pavement to prevent mud, and building a heart-shaped flower bed out of bricks.

The Therapeutic Animal Park is home to animals such as a donkey, chickens, ducks, rabbits, sheep and more. The park has been in Weyburn for more than 30 years, always run with donations and volunteers, though it has only been at it's newest location near Tatagwa View since 2005.
