Last Thursday saw Third Street lined with happy Weyburnites all viewing the Weyburn Parade of Lights. Vehicles and floats were decorated in fun colors and lights to kick off the holiday season.

"With over 45 entries this year, I think it is one for the record books," says Twila Walkeden, Executive Director for the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce. "I think everyone's really excited to celebrate the season, we had terrific weather, we're looking at an increase in economic growth in our city and I think all those things combined just made it an extra special event this year."

Businesses in Weyburn extended their hours to allow for late night shopping during the event.

"We're happy to announce we have two winners chosen by our judges, Swayze's Concrete for the business winner and the Atomic Purple Hockey Team for the organizations winner," says Walkeden. "Everyone really came out and supported the event and it's a really difficult decision to make, but those were the two that we chose."

The evening was a success celebrating holiday cheer and the support of local businesses.
