The Ministry of Highways and RCMP are reminding motorists to slow to 60 when passing emergency vehicles.

"And the reason being, that's our office when we're out there working, and we want a safe environment to work in. Unfortunately, if you're dealing with a crash site, or anything else, you want to make sure our people are safe out there as well," said RCMP staff sergeant Pete Garvey with the Southeast Combined Traffic Services here in Weyburn.

Emergency vehicles include police, fire, ambulance, as well as rescue vehicles and tow trucks. When they have their lights on, drivers have to slow to 60 km/hr when passing them.

Garvey added that motorists also need to keep their eyes on the road when passing emergency vehicles.
