With 10 dogs and 24 cats taking refuge from the cold weather, it's a full house at the Weyburn Humane Society's animal shelter. President Pam Arndt-Schick said they're running low on supplies.

“We’re getting to the point where we're running a little bit low, so it's time to make a call out for food,” she said. “Any kind of cat food, kitten food, dog food, Yesterday's News for cat litter, bleach, gloves and laundry detergent, all that is very welcome.”

She added in spite of the cold in recent weeks, the animals are coping well and are grateful to be kept warm.

“They're all doing very well, the odd one is a little bit antsy, you know,” she said. “It would be nice to be able to have them outside, but we just can't right now, I think when we take them out to do their business, they realize how cold it is, so they're grateful to be inside.”

The Humane Society is planning a unique fundraiser next month. A Cat Cafe will be held on March 10 at Microtel to help raise funds for the animal shelter.
