CAA Saskatchewan is once again searching for the worst roads in the province and is asking for the public’s help in finding it. The annual Worst Roads Campaign kicked off this week, and already, the votes are steadily coming in.

Christine Niemczyk is the director of communications with CAA Saskatchewan. She explained the campaign is to help put the spotlight on roadways in the province which are in a poor state. The information gathered from the annual campaign is forwarded to a number of decision and policy makers.

“Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, SARM, SUMA, all those who are involved with looking at our roads, and making them safer for everyone, so we will share that information, and we will let the public know what roads have been nominated in the 2018 CAA Worst Roads campaign,” Niemczyk explained.

The campaign sees roads nominated for a number of reasons and isn’t just limited to highways. The nominees typically have potholes, crumbling pavement, poor signage, a lack of pedestrian or cycling infrastructure, or high traffic congestion which is putting safety at risk.

To nominate a road for the CAA Worst Roads campaign, you can visit the CAA Saskatchewan website. The campaign ends on May 6th, with the results released shortly afterwards.

At the time of the writing of this article, Highway 35 north of Weyburn, and past Francis is currently in the top 10. In recent years, Highway 36 near Coronach as well as Highway 13 west of Weyburn have been roads in the southeast which have received substantial votes.
