Drivers in Midale will have to use detours and caution this month as road work began throughout the town this past week.

"Right now the construction crews are on Main Street. We are resurfacing Main Street with three-inch asphalt," explained Midale Mayor Al Hauglum. "Then they will be moving to South Road which runs past the (Mainprize) Manor and connects up with the 702 heading east of Lampman. They'll be making that into a heavy haul."

He added that drivers will need to find an alternate route around town.

"To get into Midale right now you have to use the accesses on each end of the town - on the east end by the Manor and hit the 702 for now; on the west side, there is access to come in through the back way."

Two residential streets, Stephen Street and Eisenhower Street North, will also receive attention.

The work is expected to take three weeks, weather permitting.
