Weyburn police constable Jeffrey Bartsch is riding in the wind and the rain.

He and 30 other police officers from around the province have embarked on a two day bicycle ride to Regina.

They are taking part in the first annual Ride to Remember event. It's in memory of peace officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The ride is a lead-up to the Police and Peace Officers' National Memorial Day, which is held on the last Sunday of every September.

As of mid-afternoon Friday, the riders were visible on a live Facebook feed, somewhere between Colonsay and their first-day stopping point, Watrous.

The second leg of the ride will take them to Regina on Saturday.
