The Weyburn Police Service says they have seized products containing CBD oil from a local business after receiving a complaint.

It is illegal for unlicensed retailers to sell cannabis products, including products containing CBD (cannabidiol), under the Cannabis Control Act. The business was issued a warning under the act.

Police say retailers should consult the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) or police prior to selling any cannabis-related products. This includes products which do not contain any THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive constituent of cannabis that makes users feel "high". CBD, on the other hand, is the chemical compound in cannabis that is said to relieve symptoms of anxiety and pain in users and does not contain THC.
